Global power demand is entering a new, less predictable phase

AI data center

Global electricity demand is rising faster than in decades, after a long period of slow, predictable growth. Grid planners are being asked to add capacity on a timeline that traditional generation and permitting cycles were not built for.

Artificial intelligence is a major driver: training and running large models requires data centers with continuous, high-density power draw, concentrated in specific regions and available 24/7 — a load profile that intermittent renewables alone cannot serve.

EV charging and oil infrastructure

At the same time, transportation is electrifying. As electric vehicle fleets grow, demand shifts from the fuel pump to the grid, adding a new, steadily growing baseline load on top of existing consumption.

Meanwhile oil markets remain exposed to geopolitical disruption and price volatility, underscoring the strategic value of power generation that does not depend on a global commodity supply chain. Baseload capacity that is clean, domestic, and always-on — which EGS can provide — becomes more valuable in this environment, not less.

The opportunity

An underused geothermal resource — and a technology to unlock it

Central America holds substantial geothermal potential, particularly in Guatemala, that remains largely undeveloped. Conventional geothermal is limited to a handful of sites with ideal reservoir conditions.

Enhanced Geothermal Systems unlock resources that were previously not commercially viable, extending geothermal development well beyond the small set of traditional sites.

At the same time, regional power demand is rising alongside the need for clean, baseload generation — capacity that runs continuously, unlike intermittent solar or wind.

Location strategy

Initial focus on El Salvador — a mature regulatory framework, existing geothermal experience, trained personnel, and lower technical risk. Expansion roadmap into Guatemala, where potential is greater and competition lower.

Revenue model

Energy and capacity sales under power purchase agreements, with future optionality in environmental certificates, industrial heat, green hydrogen, and data center demand.
